Richard has worked with Joseph Duffey managing his equity interest in several of his portfolio accounts for over 20 years. He officially joined the Compass team in 2008. As Controller, Richard provides accounting, financial analysis, and strategic direction to all Compass accounts. Richard’s duties include providing budget analysis and forecasting, managing working capital, and guiding business plan development.

Richard has extensive knowledge in Management, Human Resource Management, and Accounting for the Golf, Fitness, F&B and Home Heating Oil Industries. In 1991 Richard and Joseph Duffey began their working relationship. Richard gained experience in Management and Accounting for companies owned by the Duffey Family as the General Manager of the Abington Fitness and Country Club. Prior to working for Joe Duffey or Compass, Richard started his career as an Operations Manager for a company that owned several Stanley Steemer Carpet Cleaning franchises along the East Coast. While there, Richard coordinated the opening of new leased spaces, hired and interviewed new employees, and provided training support for new branch managers. Richard used that experience to later turn around a failing franchise location as Branch Manager.

Richard’s practical experience and education allows him to provide support in management and operations as well as analysis of working capital, forecasting, budgeting and payroll. Richard is the change agent within client companies to ensure financial data is being used to spur best business practices.

Richard has his A.A.S in Accounting from Montgomery County Community College.
